Board of Directors

The South Carolina Society for Vascular Ultrasound Board of Directors is composed of four individuals from various segments of the vascular ultrasound market. We are a dedicated team of volunteers looking to improve patient care through the education and support of vascular technologists and students from South Carolina and our surrounding states.

Brandon Keys BS, RVS

President

Brandon Keys has been working in the cardiovascular field since 2003 in multiple roles. He began his career as a technologist's assistant and then became a technologist working in a variety of facilities both office based and hospitals. In 2017, Brandon moved to the industry working as a clinical applications specialist specializing in reporting software for Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiovascular procedures. In 2021, Brandon moved into a solutions consultant role for Change Healthcare helping facilities optimize clinical workflows and reporting. Brandon is dedicated and passionate about the vascular ultrasound and surgery fields and works diligently to support the South Carolina Society for Vascular Ultrasound. He has served as the president of the board of directors since October 2017.

Presley Painter BS, RDCS, RVT

Presley Painter began her ultrasound career in 2003 with Advanced Diagnostics, Inc. and is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the company. She started off as a student and her roles progressed over the course of time into lead sonographer and then clinical director, which she held for 10 years. She has been the treasurer of the SC Society for Vascular Ultrasound since 2012. She is passionate about the field of ultrasound, and its advances and thoroughly enjoys teaching students who are new to the field. Although she’s now in more of an administrative role her favorite part of the job is scanning patients, which she has the opportunity to do weekly.

Shannon Watts BS, RDCS, RVT

Shannon Watts is the Clinical Director and Cardiovascular Sonographer with Advanced Diagnostics Inc. Shannon is a graduate from Lugoff-Elgin High School. She continued her education at the University of South Carolina where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science. After spending a few years working in nutrition, she transitioned into the cardiovascular field. Shannon completed the sonography program through Midlands Technical College and has been with Advanced Diagnostics since graduating in 2015. Shannon has served as the Vice President for the South Carolina Society for Vascular Ultrasound since 2019.

Robert Smith MHA, RDCS, RVT

Robert from Camden, SC os the Program Director of the MUSC Health Claude W. Smith School of Cardiovascular Technology.  He and his wife Suzy are the proud parents of a 13 year old son, Banks. Robert received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and a Masters from MUSC in Healthcare Administration.  Through his almost 20 year career in cardiovascular ultrasound he has worked in a number of capacities including Vascular Lab Manager at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Clinical Applications Specialist for Imacor, Informatics Educator at Prisma and as a Cardiovascular Sonographer at Lexington Medical Center.  He is also a Board member for the South Carolina Society of Echocardiography.

Interested in Joining the Board?

The board of directors are all volunteers serving two year terms with officer elections occurring each year at our annual symposium. Each year two officer positions are elected to ensure the board always has experienced officers. A candidate for office shall be an active member in good standing and must abide by the by-laws of the SCSVU.

Duties of the Officers

President

  • Serves as chairman of meetings, Board of Directors, By-laws Committee, and the Program Planning Committee.

  • Chief Executive Officer of SCSVU and an ex officio member of all committees.

  • Presides at regular and special meetings.

  • May call special meetings of membership.

  • Shall perform other duties as are necessary and incidental of that office including appointing committee chairpersons, appointing SCSVU members to present the society to the public, and organizing and planning a yearly calendar.

  • Applies for CME’s through the SVU. Keeps a record of such application and fees for applications, etc., and distributes credits once awarded.

  • Serves as Program Director

  • Assumes the duties of the President in his/her absence.

  • Assists the President in her/his duties.
